VOLGA John Heylens, market president of BankStar Financial Volga, has announced the addition of Don Greiner to the BankStar lending team.
We are excited to welcome Don to our team and look forward to seeing him build strong relationships with our customers while helping propel the bank forward, said Heylens.
Originally from Wilmot, Greiner attended South Dakota State University and has called the Brookings area home for nearly two decades. He brings with him a wealth of experience in banking, having held a variety of positions including ag lender, retail branch manager, business banker and business banking manager.
This summer, Greiner will complete his third and final year at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. The program, designed for community bank leaders, emphasizes leadership, operational readiness, and peer collaboration.
In his new role as vice president ag-business banker, Greiner says he looks forward to providing direct and personalized customer service.
Community banks are the backbone of the American economy: fueling small business, nurturing local growth, and building trust through personal relationships, said Greiner.
Heylens added, Dons skills and experience will be a great match for our customers and will help us manage our continued expected growth.
Greiner lives on an acreage south of Brookings with his wife and three children, who attend Sioux Valley schools. He values small-town life and giving back to the community.
BankStar Financial completed construction of its new Volga branch building on U.S. Highway 14 in summer 2024. The bank is approaching a century of service, with its 100th anniversary coming in 2026.
