SIOUX FALLS Area track & field teams competed in the 100th Howard Wood Relays over the weekend at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
There were over 100 teams at the relays from schools all over the Midwest.
Boys
There were four relay teams that came away with titles over the weekend and three of them came from Colman-Egan. The team of Hayden Pearson, Jackson Zwart, Jack Mousel and Jase Mousel won the Class B 4×100 with a time of 43.73 seconds. Jase Mousel, Mikano Lee, Zwart and Jack Mousel came in first in the Class B 4×200 (1:31.80) and Zwart, Jase Mousel, Jack Mousel and Sutton Bunde won the Class B sprint medley relay (3:38.01).
Brookings team of Jon Kahler, Ernest Ting, Shane Harming and Trevin Lounsbury came in first in the Clas AA 4×800 (7:59.26). Ting, Cole Hockett, Shane Harming and Kahler came in first in the distance medley relay (10:50.76), which was all classes.
Sioux Valley had two relay teams that had top-five finishes in Class A. Carson Wosje, Brock Christopherson, Brady Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller came in second in the 4×400 (3:26.75) and third in the 4×800 (8:14.12). Deubrook Areas Charlie Olsen, Josh Mitchell, Brady Gladis and Josh Moberg came in third in the Class B 4×800 relay (8:49.39).
Tanner Stein of Elkton-Lake Benton came in 11th in the 400 meter run (50.44). Brookings Lounsbury came in 14th in the 1600 (4:21.79) and eighth in the 3200 (9:21.52). ELBs Blake DeVries came in 13th in the 300 meter hurdles (41.08).
ELBs Taiton Boersma came in 13th in the shot put with a throw of 155 feet and four inches. Brookings Alex Wainman came in 13th in the discus (155-04) and tied for 11th in the high jump (6-00.00). Colman-Egans Jack Mousel came in 10th in the high jump (6-02.00) and Sioux Valleys Jakob Guthmiller tied for 17th in the same event (6-00.00). Brookings Charlie Bisgard came in ninth in the long jump (20-11.75).
Girls
Chloe Raw had a strong weekend for Arlington. She came in first in the 100 meter dash (11.88) and fourth in the special 200 meter run (24.48), which had the top-eight competitors from South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.
Colman-Egan had a big relay weekend on the girls side as well. Crystal Sylvia-Dominguez, Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis and Jolie Flatten won the Class B 4×200 relay (1:46.65) and Presley Luze, Sylvia-Dominguez, Brynlee Landis and Flatten won the 4×400 relay (4:08.24). Avery Baumberger, Finley Luze, Silva-Dominguez and Landis came in second in the sprint medley relay (4:08.24).
Flandreaus Ella Hoffman, Morgan Sheppard, Kiley Westberry and Faith Wiese won the sprint medley relay in Class A (4:10.76). Deubrook Areas Makenna Ekern, Emma Mitchell, Neely Gustad and Kylee Johnson finished in second in the 4×800 Class B relay (10:16.74).
Flandreaus Faith Wiese came in sixth in the 1600 (5:02.33) and seventh in the 3200 (10:35.40). Colman-Egans Jolie Flatten came in 15th in the 400 (59.42).
Brookings Kendis Sackreiter came in third in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet and .50 inches. Iroquois/Lake Prestons Hadlee Holt came in 14th in the same event (37-01.00) and Deubrooks Kiana Schmidt finished in 20th (36-00.00).
Brookings Logan Smidt came in ninth in the javelin (114-05) and Colman-Egans Anna Zwart finished in 19th in the same event (104-07). Colman-Egans Quinn Meyer came in 12th in the high jump (5-02.00) and Brookings Kennedy Ronning came in 11th in the pole vault (10-06.00).
