Elkton-Lake Benton boys win Estelline Alumni Meet

ESTELLINE The Elkton-Lake Benton boys track and field team won the Estelline Alumni Meet on Tuesday afternoon.

ELB was one of eight Brookings area teams that competed in Estelline. The others included Arlington, Deubrook Area, Elkton-Lake Benton, Estelline/Hendricks, Flandreau, Iroquois/Lake Preston, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland and Sioux Valley.

Boys

Elkton-Lake Benton

The Elks had 160 points as a team to earn the victory. Nate Timm, Blake DeVries, Taiton Boersma, Eliot Erickson and Tanner Stein were the individual winners for ELB. Timm won the 1600 meter run with a time of four minutes and 43.60 seconds. He also came in first in the 3200 (10:32.35). DeVries won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.88 seconds.

Boersma won two events. He came in first in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet and 8.5 inches and also won the discus (143 2). Erickson won the pole vault (12 7) and Stein won the long jump (20 9).

Boersma also came in second in the javelin (130 7). Erickson finished in second in the 300 meter hurdles (42.46) and Stein came in second in the 200 meter run (23.23). Joseph Nibbe came in third in the 800 (2:09.27).

Sioux Valley

The Cossacks came in second with 141 points. Carson Wosje, Donovan Rose, Jakob Guthmiller and Braden Danzeisen were the individual winners for Sioux Valley. Wosje won the 800 (2:02.06) and Rose won the 110 meter hurdles (15.31). Jakob Guthmiller came in first in the high jump (5 11) and Danzeisen came in first in the triple jump (41 9.25).

The Cossacks also won the 4×400 relay. The team of Wosje, Brock Christopherson, Brady Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller had a time of 3:27.48.

Rose also came in second in the 100 meter dash (11.13) and the 200 (22.96). Hiltunen came in second in the 800 (2:03.91) and Mitchell Guthmiller came in third in the 400 (52.05). Mitchell Guthmiller came in third in the high jump (5 7) and Danzeisen came in second in the long jump (19 11.75).

Flandreau

The Fliers finished in fourth with 111.5 points. Brenton Westberry won the 400 (50.30). The team of Paul Parsley, Micah Otto, Alexavier Poitra and Benjamin Klum won the 4×100 relay (46.73).

Sam Schmidt came in second in the 3200 (11:05.73) and Xavier Bien came in second in the discus (130 9). Otto came in second in the high jump (5 9) and Luke Sheppard came in second in the triple jump (40 3).

Deubrook Area

The Dolphins cmae in fifth with 52 points. Deubrook didnt have any individual winners but the team of Charlie Oslen, Josh Mitchell, Brady Gladis and Josh Moberg came in first in the 4×800 with a time of 8:54.50. Olsen also came in second in the 1600 (4:47.11).

Estelline/Hendricks

The Redhawks came in seventh with 35.5 points. Cooper Shaefer came in third in the 1600 meter run (4:47.28) and Braxton Joengeling came in third in the javelin (126 9).

Arlington

The Cardinals came in eighth with 28 points. Jake Burns came in second in the pole vault (11 9) and Kahne Hanson came in thrid in the 300 meter hurdles (44.59).

Girls

Sioux Valley

The Cossacks were the top area team on the girls side, coming in third with 119.5 points. Adison Renkly was the lone individual winner for Sioux Valley as she won the 100 meter hurdles (15.40) and the triple jump (36 1.5). The Cossacks won the sprint medley relay as the team of Kalia King, Tenley Severson, Amya Ward and Liberty Trygstad posted a time of 4:50.47.

Talya Vincent came in second in the 800 (2:29.92) and Maci Licht came in third in the 400 (1:01.10). Emma Gorvin came in second in the high jump (5 1) and Amari Ward came in second in the long jump (15 7.5).

Flandreau

The Fliers finished in fourth with 100 points. Faith Wiese won the 800 (2:16.67) and Josie Hamilton came in first in the 3200 (12:03.83). The team of Kiley Westberry, Wiese, Hamilton and Tenley LeBrun won the 4×400 (4:12.47). Morgan Sheppard came in second in the 400 (1:00.46) and third in both the 100 meter dash (13.16) and 200 (27.46). Calla Wiese came in third in the 3200 (12:41.83).

Arlington

The Cardinals came in fifth with 78 points. Chloe Raw came in first in the 100 meter dash (12.08) and the 200 (24.80). Raw, Halley Miller, Gracelyn Miller and Jaelyn Huntimer won the 4×100 (51.33).

Kaelyn Ulschmid came in second in the 1600 (5:57.09) and Madalyn Madsen came in third in the same event (5:59.57). Seeley VanOverbeke came in third in the high jump (4 9).

Deubrook Area

The Dolphins finished in sixth with 77 points. Kylee Johnson won the 400 with a time of 1:00.02. Makenna Ekern, Emma Mitchell, Neely Gustad and Johnson came in first in the 4×800 (10:20.56).

Ziey Molengraaf came in second in the javelin (98 11) and Kiana Schmit came in second in the shot put (34 9) and third in the discus (109 9). Ekern came in third in the 800 (2:32.96).

Estelline/Hendricks

The Redhawks came in seventh with 54.5 Emma Gilbertson came in first in the javelin (100 5) and Halle IntVeld came in third in the same event (88 2). Portia Trias came in third in the triple jump (30 0.5).

Elkton-Lake Benton

The Lady Elks had 29 points. Ivy Jaacks came in third in the 100 meter hurdles (16.81) and second in the 300 hurdles (50.32) and Sydney DeVries came in third in the 300 hurdles (50.51).

Iroquois/Lake Preston

The Sharks came in eighth with 23 points Their lone top-three finisher was Hadlee Holt who came in first in the shot put (39 1).
