BROOKINGS No injuries were reported after a van being used as part of building maintenance at the Brookings Country Club, 2180 Clubhouse Drive on Lake Campbell, caught fire Monday morning.
In a Tuesday news release, Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote that one of the pieces of equipment inside the van malfunctioned and quickly caught fire. The fire destroyed the vehicle and equipment worth approximately $15,000.
Responding crews doused the flames, and the incident is being investigated by the sheriffs office, Sebring wrote.
