SIOUX FALLS Arlington senior Chloe Raw will be participating in one of the special races at the 100th Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday night at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
Raw is set to race in the Girls Special 200 Meter Run on Friday at 6:55 p.m. She is one of nine competitors from four different states.
Raw was the 2024 Class B 100 and 200 meter state champion and was also the runner-up in the long jump. In 2023 she was the runner-up in both the 100 and 200. Raw currently ranks No. 2 in South Dakota in the 200 meter and No. 4 in the 100 meter. She is committed to run in college at South Dakota State.
The other competitors from South Daktoa include Pierre senior Kali Ringstmeyer, Bennett County freshman Reagan ONeill and Custer senior Jordyn Larsen. Lennox eighth grader Bergan Musser is an alternate. The out of state competitors are Velva, N.D.s Anya Olson, West Fargo, N.D.s Michelle Gee, Hills, Minn.s Brynn Baken and Sioux City, Iowas Grace Erick.
The special races at the Howard Wood Relays began in 1978. Since 2013, the special races have rotated between 200 and 800 meters and for this milestone year it will be the 200 for the girls and 800 for the boys.
The Howard Wood Relays are set to begin on Friday afternoon and will conclude on Saturday afternoon.
