Dakota Layers, South Dakota State team up to fight hunger

SIOUX FALLS Every swish at the free throw line this season meant more than just points on the board it meant food on the table for South Dakotans facing hunger.

For the ninth straight year, Dakota Layers teamed up with South Dakota State University Athletics for a feel-good tradition with real impact: donating a dozen eggs to Feeding South Dakota for every free throw made by the SDSU mens and womens basketball teams at First Bank and Trust Arena. Thanks to 392 free throws and a bonus pallet added by Dakota Layers to sweeten the deal, a grand total of 900 dozen eggs (thats 10,800 fresh eggs.) are now making their way across the state through Feeding South Dakotas

Feeding South Dakota, acknowledging 50 years of fighting hunger in 2025, has evolved into the largest hunger-relief organization in the state serving families, children, and seniors. From distribution centers in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Pierre, team members and volunteers receive, sort, pack and distribute food to communities in all 66 counties of the state. Dedicated to their mission to end hunger in South Dakota, Feeding South Dakota is strategically positioned to respond to the needs of today and works alongside generous donors, corporations, agency partners, volunteers, and legislators to meaningfully advance the mission in the years to come.
