Man arrested after wreck, fire on Interstate 29 in Brookings

BROOKINGS An accident on Interstate 29 in Brookings on Wednesday evening led to a vehicle fire and the subsequent arrest of its driver.

Brookings Police Chief Michael Drake told the Brookings Register that Nathan Mann was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident unfolded when, per information from Drake, Manns vehicle struck another northbound vehicle from behind near mile marker 132. Manns vehicle started on fire and was quickly engulfed in flames.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:37 p.m., and the Brookings Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire.
