BROOKINGS South Dakota State basketballs Haleigh Timmer has been named a Second Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators.
Timmer, a redshirt junior, started all 34 games for the Jackrabbits this season and helped SDSU to a 30-4 overall record. She averaged 12.8 points and 4.0 rebounds and earned honorable mention All-Summit League honors.
Jackrabbit womens basketball now has nine student-athletes earn a combined 12 Academic All-America awards in program history. Timmer is the first SDSU womens basketball player recognized since Myah Selland was a three-time honoree from 2021 to 2023.
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have participated in at least 90 percent of the teams games or started at least 66 percent of the institutions games.
