Sioux Valley, Flandreau, Elkton-Lake Benton compete in Volga

VOLGA The Sioux Valley, Flandreau and Elkton-Lake Benton track & field teams competed in the Brace-Hopfinger Relays on Tuesday at Sioux Valley High School.

Boys

Sioux Valley

The Cossacks did well in the relay races, winning four of them. Donovan Rose, Jakob Guthmiller, Carson Wosje and Mitchell Guthmiller won the 4×100 relay (43.77) and the 4×200 relay (1:32.63). Wosje, Brock Christopherson, Brady Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller won the 4×400 relay (3:29.77) and Rose, Jakob Guthmiller, Wosje and Christopherson won the sprint medley relay (3:45.65).

Hiltunen won the 800 meter run (2:05.47) and Rose came in second in the 110 meter hurdles (15.27). Braden Danzeisen came in first in the triple jump (43 7.5) and second in the long jump (20 1.25). He also came in second in the javelin (144 10). Jakob Guthmiller, Mitchell Guthmiller and Koltyn Kissner came in second (5 10), third (5 8) and fourth (4 6), respectively, in the high jump.

Elkton-Lake Benton

Nate Timm had a strong day for the Elks on the boys side. He came in first in the 1600 (4:48.07) and the 3200 (10:45.66). He also came in third in the 800 (2:10.78). Blake DeVries came in first in the 300 hurdles (42.08) and third in the 110 hurdles (15.99). Taiton Boersma came in first in the shot put (49 4) and second in the discus (128 7).

Tanner Stein came in third in the long jump (20 1.25) and fourth in the 400 (51.99). Colt Beck came in fourth in the 200 (24.49) and third in the triple jump (39 4). The relay team of Beck, Eliot Erickson, Caden Crofutt and Tanner Stein came in second in the 4×200 (1:36.01). Kaleb Larson, Alexis Hernandez Garcia, Wanner Enriquez and Eli Johnson came in second in the sprint medley relay (4:14.43).

Flandreau

Sam Schmidt came in second in the 1600 (5:08.08) and he and Nathaniel Hobbie tied for second in the 3200 (11:19.47). Wyatt Kontz came in fourth in the 800 (2:14.27) and Logan Kontz came in fourth in the 3200 (11:31.03). Luke Sheppard came in fourth in the triple jump (38 9.5) and fifth in the long jump (18 1.25). Xavier Bien came in fifth in the discus (118 9). Daniel Hobbie, Kontz Nathaniel Hobbie and Sam Schmidt came in second in the 4×800 (9:13.53).

Girls

Sioux Valley

Adison Renkly came in first in the 100 meter hurdles (15.86) and the triple jump (35 2.25). Liberty Trygstad came in first in the 800 (2:42.59) and Talya Vincent won the 1600 (5:50.73). Amari Ward won the 100 meter dash (13.27).

Maci Licht came in second in the 400 (1:03.03) and Ward came in second in the long jump (15 5.5). Emma Gorvin came in second in the high jump (4 10) and Ava Gatzke came in third in the 1600 (6:17.40). Gatzke also came in fourth in the 800 (2:49.59). Miley Keating came in fourth in the high jump (4 6) and triple jump (31 0.75).

Sioux Valley also had success in the relay races, winning two of them. Licht, Amya Ward, Amia Ward and Vincent won the 4×400 (4:19.76). Amari Ward, Renklyn, Amia Ward and Licht came in first in the SRM (4:28.74). Amia Ward, Vincent, Licht and Isabelle Bloker came in second in the 4×800 (10:08.31).

Flandreau

Morgan Sheppard came in first in the 200 (27.93) and the 400 (1:02.34). Faith Wiese won the 3200 (10:48.86).

Kiley Westberry came in second in the 200 (27.95) and fourth in the 400 (1:03.47). Tenley LeBrun came in second in the 800 (2:44.79) and Josie Hamilton came in second in the 3200 (12:21.55). Calla Weise came in second in the 1600 (6:01.55).

Rhegan Sheppard came in third in the 200 (28.06) and fifth in the 400 (1:04.82). She also came in fifth in the triple jump (30 0.75). Ella Hoffman came in fifth in the 200 (28.66) and Morgan Kontz came in fifth in the 100 (13.90).

Kontz, Westberry, Hoffman and Morgan Sheppard came in first in the 4×200 (1:51.68). Westberry, Hamilton, Morgan Sheppard and Faith Wiese came in first in the 4×800 (10:07.15).

Elkton-Lake Benton

Sydney DeVries came in second in the 100 meter dash (13.71) and second in the 300 meter hurdles (51.22). She also came in fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (18.58). Ivy Jaacks came in third in the 300 meter hurdles (51.38) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.88).
