Brookings competes in Washington Quadrangular

SIOUX FALLS The Brookings track & field teams competed in a quadrangular at Sioux Falls Washington High School on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats competed against Washington, Sioux Falls Jefferson and OGorman.

Boys

The Brookings boys won one race as Jackson Bastemeyer, Shane Harming, Marco Springman and Tyson Springman won the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:40.50. Lavonte Carter, Jack Griggs, Gus Armenta and Gavin Anderson came in third in the 4×100 relay (45.65) and Ezra Eidem. Caden Walsh, Blake Kennegieter and Isaac Andal came in third in the 4×200 relay (1:37.34).

Alex Wainman came in second in the javelin throw with a throw of 162 feet and five inches. He also tied for fifth in the high jump with a jump of five feet and eight inches. Carson Loehr came in fourth in the discus (120-08) and Haiden Baxter came in fourth in the pole vault (9-00.00). Eli Hawks came in fourth in the triple jump (36-08.25). Mason Mathis came in fifth in the javelin (135-08) and Charlie Bisgard came in fifth in the long jump (19-09.00).

Girls

Kennedy Ronning had a strong day on the girls side for the Bobcats. She came in first in the 200 meter run (26.98) and the pole vault (10-06.00). Logan Smidt came in first in the javelin (109-00) and Kendis Sackreiter came in first in the shot put (36-03.50). Kaylie Kuehl came in first in the 1600 meter run (5:34.59).

Grace Vostad came in fourth in the 100 meter dash (14.19). Kalla Foerster and Jordyn Johnson came in second (5:53.56) and third (6:06.16), respectively, in the 1600.

Neveah Strohfus, Vostad, Brooklyn Ballis and Hadley Devine came in second in the 4×100 (53.70). Strohfus, Vostad, Ava Petterson and Tessa Connot came in second in the 4×200 (1:54.88). Ella Miller, Connot, Petterson and Isabel Overby came in second in the 4×400 (4:41.08). Maisei Mogard, Natalie Kahler, Claire Bisgard and Cadence Dauer came in third in the 4×400 (4:48.80).

Smidt also came in third shot put (33-06.50). Clara Delbridge came in third in the javelin (90-05) fourth in the discus (96-03) and fifth in the shot put (31-08.00). Ballis came in fifth in the javelin (79-05).

Rylee Briggs came in second in the high jump (4-10.00) and fifth in the long jump (14-07.50). Addison Haggerty came in fourth in the pole vault (7-06.00). Hawks and Briggs tied for fourth in the triple jump (31-01.00).
