Bruce-area rollover injures teenager

BROOKINGS COUNTY A rollover involving two teenagers left one of them injured and both of them trapped in the vehicle after Monday morning incident southwest of Bruce.

Hannah Somero, 17, of Bruce was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero west on 206th Street when she lost control of it on the gravel road at its intersection with 461st Avenue, according to information in a Tuesday news release from the Brookings County Sheriffs Office. The rollover was reported at 7:59 a.m.

Her vehicle then entered the south ditch and rolled. Somero and her 15-year-old passenger were trapped inside the car until crews were able to extricate them, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote. They were treated at the scene and the passenger was taken by ambulance to Brookings Health System to be treated for unknown injuries.

Someros vehicle received extensive damage during the incident and was towed.

Responding agencies were the Volga Fire Department, and ambulances from Arlington and Brookings. The sheriffs office is continuing to investigate the incident.
