Brookings-area teams compete at Scott Underwood Invite

BROOKINGS Seven area track & field teams competed at the Scott Underwood Invite at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on Monday afternoon.

The teams included Brookings, Sioux Valley, Arlington, Deubrook Area, Elkton-Lake Benton, Flandreau and Iroquois/Lake Preston.

Boys

Sioux Falls Christian took home the title on the boys side with 95 points. Brookings was the top area team with 72.25 points and the Bobcats came in third. Sioux Valley came in sixth (48.5) and Elkton-Lake Benton tied for seventh (41). Flandreau finished in 13th (11) and Arlington tied for 18th (5). Deubrook Area and Iroquois/Lake Preston did not have team scores on the boys side.

Brookings

Trevin Lounsbury had the highlight for the Bobcat boys as he came in first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.08. Jon Kahler came in second in the 800 (1:59.18) and Ernest Ting came in second in the 1600 (4:35.45). Alex Diersen came in third in the 1600 (4:47.10).

The relay team of Cole Hockett, Kahler, Ting and Lounsbury won the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:26.58. Weston Baker, Jackson Bastemeyer, Shane Harming and Marco Springman came in fourth in the 4×800 (8:39.47). Alex Wainman tied for first in the high jump with a jump of five feet and 10 inches.

Sioux Valley

Donovan Rose had a strong day for the Cossacks as he came in fourth in both the 100 meter dash (11.31 seconds) and the 110 meter hurdles (15.37). Braden Danzeisen came in fourth in the triple jump (12.40 meters) and Jakob Guthmiller came in fifth in the high jump (5-10.00).

The relay team of Carson Wosje, Brock Christopherson, Brady Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller came in second in the 4×400 relay (3:29.09). Christopherson, Wosje, Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller also came in second in the 4×800 (8:39.47). Rose, Jakob Guthmiller, Wosje and Hunter Steinhaus came in fifth in the 4×100 relay (45.32).

Elkton-Lake Benton

Blake DeVries was the top finisher for the Elks on Monday as he came in second in the 300 meter hurdles (42.58). He also came in 10th in the 110 meter hurdles (17.05). Nate Timm came in fifth in the 1600 meter run (4:54.75), Tanner Stein came in sixth in the 400 (52.11) and Colt Beck came in seventh in the 200 (24.03).
Stein came in second in the long jump (6.11m). Eliot Erickson came in third in the pole vault (12-06.00) and Taiton Boersma came in third in the shot put (15.48m).

Flandreau

Brenton Westberry came in fourth in the 400 meter run (52.02) and Micah Otto came in sixth in the high jump (5-10.00).

Arlington

The Cardinals had two top-10 finishes. Robin Ertas came in eighth in the 200 meter (24.06) and Jake Burns came in fifth in the pole vault (12-06.00).

Girls

SFC won on the girls side as well with 138.5 points. Brookings had 45 points and came in fifth. Arlington and Sioux Valley were right behind the Bobcats in sixth (38) and seventh (37), respectively. Flandreau tied for 11th (21) and Deubrook Area came in 13th (16). Iroquois/Lake Preston came in 20th (5) and Elkton-Lake Benton finished in 22nd (3).

Brookings

Kennedy Ronning had a strong outing for the Cats as she came in fourth in the 100 meter dash (12.86) and came in second in the pole vault (10-06.00). The relay team of Grace Vostad, Ava Petterson, Ella Miller and Tessa Connot came in fifth in the 4×200 (1:54.24).

Kendis Sackreiter came in second in the shot put (12.32m). Rylee Briggs came in fourth in the high jump (4-10.00) and tied for third in the triple jump (9.81m). Olivia Hawks came in sixth in the triple jump (9.51m).

Arlington

Chloe Raw took home two titles on Monday as she won both the 100 and 200 meter. In the 100 she had a time of 12.16 seconds and in the 200 her time was 25.15.

Haley Miller, Maria Steffensen, Jaelyn Huntimer and Raw came in third in the 4×100 relay (52.33). That same relay team came in fourth in the 4×200 (1:53.80).

Sioux Valley

Adison Renkly came in first in the triple jump (10.57m) and third in the 100 meter hurdles (15.60). Maci Licht came in fifth in the 800 (2:23.73). Amia Ward came in seventh in the 400 (1:03.32) and Talya Vincent finished in eighth in the 1600 (5:43.12). Emma Gorvin came in third in the high jump (5-00.00).

The relay team of Licht, Vincent, Amia Ward and Amya Ward came in fifth in the 4×400 relay (4:23.20).

Flandreau

Faith Wiese came in second in the 800 meter run (5:45.93). Morgan Sheppard came in sixth in the 400 (1:03.27) and seventh in the 200 (28.11). Josie Hamilton came in 10th in the 1600 (5:45.93).

Deubrook Area

Kylee Johnson came in third in the 400 (1:00.90). The relay team of Makenna Ekern, Emma Mitchell, Neely Gustad and Johnson came in fourth in the 4×800 (10:30.64).

Iroquois/Lake Preston

The Sharks had two top-10 finishers in the shot put. Hadlee Holt came in fourth (10.82) and Bentlee Holt finished in ninth (9.52).

Elkton-Lake Benton

The Elks had two top-10 finishes in the 300 meter hurdles. Sydney DeVries came in sixth (50.71) and Ivy Jaacks came in ninth (54.73).
