Economic changes focus of Brookings summit

BROOKINGS Area business leaders and residents are being invited to take part in the upcoming Brookings Economic Summit on April 29 from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

The event will include updates on major economic developments in and around Brookings, such as the Brookings Marketplace and the Downtown Brookings master plan, along with a presentation on the regional economic outlook.

Session topics will be:

  • BR&E What Weve Learned and What Were Addressing, facilitated by Matty Kerr.
  • New Development Marketplace, facilitated by Stephanie Mason and Jacob Meshke.
  • New Development Downtown, facilitated by Kirsten Gjesdal and Samantha Backman
  • 2025 Economic Outlook, facilitated by South Dakota State Universitys Joe Santos and Dakota Institutes Jared McEntaffer.
  • Brookings School District, facilitated by Summer Schultz
  • SDSU, facilitated by Kevin Fullerton, director of the Office of Career Development with SDSU,and Joseph Cassady, dean of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences.

The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce and the Brookings Economic Development Corp. are the summits hosts. It will take place at the Dacotah Bank Center, 824 32nd Ave.
