Troop 251 Scouts help Brookings fire victims

The Scouts of Troop 251, led by the Senior Patrol Leader Ayden Mason, organized and supported a local family with a chili feed fundraiser. Joshua Waller and his family lost their home in Brookings to a fire in March.

The Scouts cooked and hosted for its members and the Aurora community, raising $370 for the family. Having only two weeks to prepare, plan, and organize this was an incredible feat done by a sophomore from the Russell Tyler Ruthton School District. He has already begun preparations to making this a more permanent and annual event to continue to assist families in need from a community that has Scouts in Troop 251.

This mindset and values is what Scouting instills in our youth. What a great addition to a college application or feather in his hat for a job interview. Project management and leadership coupled with fun and service to others is what Scouting is for and develops in the youth of the community.
