HURON Work resumed March 19 on the state Highway 37 (Dakota Avenue) reconstruction project through Huron. The median on Dakota Avenue between U.S. Highway 14 and Third Street North will be removed to allow for temporary traffic operations.
On March 31, a road closure will be placed on Highway 37 in both directions from Seventh Street South to Ninth Street South. Traffic will be diverted by detours.
Also at that time, traffic will be moved to a two-way configuration on the east side of Dakota Avenue from Market Avenue to U.S. 14 allowing construction to begin on the west side of the road. The ongoing street scape project on Dakota Avenue is also scheduled to begin March 31.
The prime contractor for this $19 million project is BX Civil and Construction Inc. of Dell Rapids. The overall project completion date is October.
