SIOUX FALLS A total of 337 swimmers competed in the South Dakota State Short Course Swim Championships at the Midco Aquatic Center on Feb. 27-March 2.
The Brookings Swim Club had 19 swimmers competing and BSC had one state champion over the weekend as Kalla Foerster brought home the state title, edging out her BSC teammate Sofia Gonzalez in a very exciting 200 Breaststroke Final.
BSC had two high point winners for scoring the most individual points over the weekend. McKinley Schwab was fourth in the 13-14 Girls Division, while Kalla Foerster was third in the 15-16 Girls Divison.
Numerous swimmers also achieved personal best times over the weekend and swam great.
One of the most exciting state meets we have had since I have been coaching for BSC, said BSC coach Cassie Hendricks. Every single one of our swimmers was going best times and swimming faster than they ever have. I am very proud of them all.
Coach Damon Venner was also very proud of the BSC team at the meet.
Its great to see hard work pay off for our swimmers. Not only did BSC produce state champions, we came together as a club and had one of our most successful state meets ever. I am proud of each and every one of our swimmers for representing BSC with pride, Venner said.
