South Dakota State ranked 25th in AP Poll

BROOKINGS The South Dakota State womens basketball team was ranked 25th in Mondays AP Top 25 Poll.

The Jackrabbits have been ranked in the Coaches Poll this season, but this was the first time they found themselves in the AP Poll. SDSU received 42 votes to get in the top 25.

This will be the 22nd week in program history that SDSU will be ranked in the AP Top 25. The last time the Jacks were ranked was in the Preseason AP Top 25 ahead of the 2022-23 season. They were ranked 23rd and then lost to Creighton in the season opener. SDSU was ranked for nine weeks, including the final poll, in the 2020-21 season. The Jacks were also ranked for 11 weeks in the 2008-09 season.

SDSUs highest ranking in the AP Poll came in the final poll of 2009 and the Jacks were ranked 16th.

SDSU will begin the Summit League Tournament on Thursday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. The Jacks are the top seed yet again after going undefeated in conference play for the third-straight season.

The Jacks will play the winner of No. 8 seeded Omaha and No. 9 seeded Denver at approximately 2:30 p.m.
