Helen Kay Moe, age 81, of Brookings, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at the United Living Community in Brookings.
Private graveside services will be held at First Lutheran Cemetery in the future. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen was born on April 19, 1943, to Kenneth and Helen (Reider) Moberg in Huron, SD. At a very young age, Helens father passed away. She was later adopted by Wayne Brewster. Helen grew up in Woonsocket and graduated from Woonsocket High School.
Helen married Douglas Moe on Sept. 13, 1960. The couple lived in Woonsocket for a short time before moving to Miller, SD and then to Brookings, SD, in 1963.
She was office manager at Federal Crop Insurance Corporation in Brookings County. Helen later operated a home daycare before going to work for the Brookings School district in the food service department. After her retirement, she enjoyed cooking for Peace Lutheran Daycare.
Helen enjoyed bowling, cross stitching, crossword puzzles, words with friends, cooking and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Moe of Brookings; her children, Timothy Moe and partner, Ji Lee of Shokopee, MN, Christopher Moe and Kathryn Anna Moe both of Brookings; and her siblings: Vickie Brewster of College Park, MD, Steve Brewster of Africa, Mike Brewster of Grand Junction, CO, Bonnie Roberts of Jacksonville, NC, and Margorie Chohrach of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joan Jensen; and one brother, Kenny Brewster.
