South Dakota Amateur Basketball Association announces 2025 Hall of Fame class

The South Dakota Amateur Basketball Association is proud to announce its newest Hall of Fame inductees for the 2025 class. The newest Hall of Fame members will be inducted into the SDABA Hall of Fame at this years 78th annual state tournament to be held this weekend, March 1-2 in Presho.

David Gall

David Gall of Pierre played his high school basketball career at Andes Central High School and was an All-State player in 1998. Gall went on to play college basketball at Mount Marty University where he was selected as a GPAC All-Conference player in 2001 and in 2002, which he was also selected as an NAIA honorable mention All-American.

Gall played on teams from Midland, Presho, and Pierre in the state amateur tournament for 10 years from 2005-14, and in 2009 led his team to the class B championship where Gall was selected as the tournament Most Valuable Player.

Brad Hand

Brad Hand of Midland played high school basketball at Midland High School from 1991-95, where he was selected first team All-State and was a Mr. Basketball finalist. During his senior year he led all classes in scoring with 619 point for the season.

Hand went on to play college basketball at Dakota Wesleyan University, where playing for coach Doug Martin, he was selected Rookie of the Year in 1997. During his senior season he was selected as team captain, Mr. Defense, and Most Valuable Player, while also picking up SDIC Player of the week honors after going 10-for-10 from the 3-point line against SDSM&T and Black Hills State.

Hand set the record for most consecutive 3-point shots made at DWU with 12, and finished fifth in the nation his senior season by shooting 49% from the 3-point line.

Hand played in 19 state amateur tournaments, ranking in the top ten for career games played and most 3-point shots made. Hand will be coaching and playing alongside his son on the team from Philip this year.

Bret and Tami McClanahan

Bret McClanahan and his wife Tami are both lifelong residents of Presho and have been stellar supporters of the state tournaments that have been in Presho over the past 30-plus years. Tami McClanahan played basketball at Lyman High School and was also a track standout there, qualifying for the state track meet every year from sixth grade through 12th grade.

Tami played college basketball and ran track at Dakota Wesleyan University, where she set the single season assists record. Tami transferred to Northern State University where she ran on the track team and qualified for the National Track Meet.

Bret McClanahan was a key player on the two Lyman state tournament qualifying basketball teams in 1979 and 1980, when he led the Raiders to the state B championship.

Bret was a four-year letterman in both track and basketball, where he qualified for the state meet in the triple jump, and his steals record he set in basketball still stands today.

Both Bret and Tami have been instrumental in leading the businesses of Presho in their support for the 12 different years the tournament has been held in Presho.

Scott and Heidi McClanahan

Scott McClanahan and his wife Heidi have hosted the teams attending the 11 tournaments in Presho since 1993.

Heidi McClanahan graduated from Sioux City North High School and attended college at Black Hills State University, and has been a great supporter of the high school activities and those of all the kids attending Lyman schools. Heidi has been involved in the support of all the state tournaments held in Presho.

Scott McClanahan played his high school basketball at Lyman High School. After an excellent prep career, Scott played four seasons of college basketball at Simpson College, St. Johns University, the University of South Dakota, and finished his senior season at Northern State University.

Scott also played many years of amateur basketball with many of the other area standout players including Larry and Bob King, Lynn Frederick, Bernie Duffy and Tom Reid.

Scott and Heidi have been generous supporters of the twelve state amateur tournaments held in Presho from 1993 through 2025.
