Three Brookings Ranger teams posted winning records over the weekend as the Junior Varsity Boys, Bantam A and Girls 14U teams were all victorious.
Junior Varsity
Brookings 7, Brandon Valley 2
The Rangers skated past the Ice Cats at home Friday night.
Connor Buckley had a pair of goals and an assist for Brookings, while Mavrick Bortnem added a goal and an assist. Rhys Heiberger, Mauer Bartley and Cooper Schneider also scored for the Rangers.
Andrew Haufschild had a pair of assists and Camden Reicks, Andrew Hahn and Mason Diers had one each.
Paxtyn Pottorff got the win in net as the Rangers outshot Brandon 46-22.
Brookings 7, Watertown 1
The JV Rangers moved to 13-2-1 in league play after skating past the Lakers on Saturday night.
Ready, Bortnem and Buckley had a goal and an assist each to pace Brookings.
Ashton Baker, Parker Nielsen, Carson Kludt and Diers also found the net for the Rangers.
Give a pair assists to Nielsen, while Heiberger, Reicks and Schneider had one each.
Neil Trygstad got the win between the pipes. Brookings outshot Watertown 39-7.
Bantam A
Brookings 3, Sioux Falls Flyers Blue 0
Brookings moved to 15-1 on the league season with a shutout of the Flyers on Saturday.
Jack Lovseth led the way with a goal and an assist. Graham Gerlach and Grant Horn also scored for Brookings. Credit Cannon Friedrich with an assist.
Jon Drew got the win in goal and Brookings outshot Sioux Falls 31-7.
Girls 14U
Brookings 5, Mitchell 3
The 14U girls moved to 11-3-3 in league play with a pair of home wins over the weekend. Mitchell ran out to a 2-0 lead on Saturday morning, but the Rangers ripped off the next four goals and won going away.
Grace DeVries led the way with a natural hat trick. Khloe Ziegeldorf and Lorelei Koch also lit the lamp for Brookings.
Ashton Otteson had a playmaker and Kahlei Foerster, Nola Hogie, Jordyn Anderson and Brooke Kruse all added apples.
Ava Vaughn went the distance between the pipes. Brookings outshot Mitchell 30-8.
Brookings 12, Sioux Center 3
Otteson and Devries each had hat tricks and Foerster a playmaker as the Rangers blew out the Storm.
Koch, Hogie, Ziegeldorf, Allie Jacobson and Kruse also scored for Brookings, while DeVries added an assist.
Pee Wee A
Sioux Falls Flyers Blue 4, Brookings 1
The Rangers dropped their final league game to finish state play 9-3.
Ryker Schumaker had the lone goal for Brookings.
Brayden Brintnall went the distance in net as Brookings outshot Sioux Falls 27-19.
The Rangers head to the state tournament in Huron this weekend as the No. 2 seed. They face Brandon Valley on Friday.
Pee Wee C
Aberdeen 3, Brookings 0 (OT)
The Rangers dropped a tough one at Aberdeen on Saturday morning.
Spencer Lovseth and Brodie Bahe scored for Brookings.
Nash Billings was strong in net, turning away 31 of 34 Cougars shots.
Brookings 7, Sioux Falls 12U Girls 2
Brookings rebounded with a win Sunday to finish their league slate 8-2.
Cooper Hyde led the way with a hat trick, and the Rangers got goals from Knox Frericks, Bahe, Liam Diercks and Adrian Almhjeld in the victory.
Hyde chipped in a pair of assists and Almhjeld and Daniel Howey had one each.
Billings earned the win in net, and Brookings outshot Sioux Falls 49-19.
The Rangers head to the state tournament in Mitchell this weekend as the No. 2 seed.
