BROOKINGS COUNTY Three businesses in Brookings County sold alcohol to a 19-year-old buyer during a recent sales compliance check conducted by the Brookings County Sheriffs Office.
A total of 12 businesses were checked, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in a Wednesday news release. The three that failed were:
- Valley Mart in Volga
- Dollar General in Volga
- Aurora Quick Stop in Aurora
The latest alcohol sales compliance check took place on Feb. 18. The previous check occurred in June, where two businesses sold booze to an underage buyer.
According to the South Dakota Department of Revenue, fines and penalties can be imposed on licensees, clerks and those who furnish alcohol to underage individuals. Complete details can be found online athttps://tinyurl.com/ytr9dejf.
