SoDak Spurs player selected to be on national team

Treysen Lounsbury of the SoDak Spurs Soccer Club was selected to be on the U.S. Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program 2011 Boys National team.

Lounsburys journey to the ODP National team started in Brookings, where he and other Spurs Players tried out in their age groups at the Fishback Soccer Complex for an ODP South Dakota State team. Once he secured a roster position on the State Team, his next goal was to be selected on that team to attend the ODP Midwest Regional Camp in Chicago.

Lounsbury received his invite to represent South Dakota in Chicago along with six other Spurs Players, Caylon Peters 2009, Kyler Soost and Wyatt Cooley both 2011s, Cruz Stanley and Raul Mendoza 2012 Boys and 2012 Girls Player Davina Lafomo. Out in Chicago, all the players competed against other Midwest State Teams hoping to get selected on a Midwest Regional Team roster.

While in Chicago, Lounsburys displays caught the attention of the Midwest team scouts, and he received his invitation along with fellow Spurs teammate Raul Mendoza (who was selected on the 2012 Boys Regional team) to the ODP Interregional Camp in Florida.

With a lot of National teams, MLS teams, and College scouts all in attendance in the Florida, Lounbury and Mendoza competed against East Coast, West Coast, and Southern Regional teams at the four-day ODP event. Lounsburys performance in Florida once again caught the eye of the scouts as last week he received his official invitation for the USYSA National team.

Congratulations to Treysen and his family, said Spurs Soccer Club Director Paul OBrien. Its a great journey and pathway that Treysen has been on, starting in a small area and continuing all the way to a National environment is brilliant. Its a great testament to our club, staff, players, and his teammates, as all have contributed in some small way to make his dream become reality.
