The public is invited to an OLLI Afternoon Social on Feb. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pheasant Restaurant.
Meet in the south dining room for a presentation by South Dakota Public Broadcasting representatives. Guest speakers will be Twyla Olson, assistant general manager and director of content, and Wade Gemar, East River donor relations director.
OLLI members are encouraged to bring their friends. If desired, hot drinks will be available for purchase as well as ordering off the menu. No reservation is required to attend this event.
New spring classes added
Back by popular demand is Beginner Pickleball. Join instructor Benda Berseth for a rollicking time learning the rules, strategies, and how to play this popular game. Dates for this four-session class are March 24, March 31, April 7 and April 14. Class sessions will be in the First Lutheran Church Gym from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Janet Brubakken, reader extraordinaire, has added a new book discussion class, set for March 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The new book she will cover is “The Briar Club” by Kate Quinn. Be sure to also enroll in Brubakkens scheduled book class on “Becoming Madam Secretary” by Stephanie Dray on May 6 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the parlor in First Lutheran Church.

OLLI March movie
All interested OLLI members are invited to attend Brookings Cinema 8 Tuesday matinee movie, “The Unbreakable Boy,” on March 4. Cost of each ticket is $5, which covers admission only. There is no need for a reservation, so bring a friend, and enjoy an afternoon at the movies.
