Bobcats come in fourth at state meet

WATERTOWN The Brookings gymnastics team came in fourth place as a team in the state competition in Watertown over the weekend.

The Bobcats had a team score of 141.0499. Harrisburg won the team title with a score of 152.9833. Mitchell came in second (148.6333) and Watertown finished in third (144.2998). Sioux Falls Lincoln rounded out the top five (139.8164).

Layla Erickson was the top all around finisher for the Bobcats as she finished tied for 10th with a score of 35.2500. Erickson came in eighth in the vault with a score of 9.1167 and fifth in the uneven bars with a score of 9.3500. She came in 36th in the balance beam (7.6000) and 20th in the floor exercise (9.1833).

The Bobcats had two other gymnasts finish in the top-15 of the vault. Liv Halverson came in 13th with a score of 8.9833 and Nevaeh Strohfus finished in 14th with a score of 8.9500. Brooklyn Ballis came in 31st (8.5500) for Brookings.

Ballis came in 18th in the uneven bars with a score of 8.7500. The Bobcats had three others compete in the bars as Kennedy Ronning came in 20th (8.6500), Ava Petersen finished in 26th (8.5000) and Strohfus came in 37th (7.8668).

Brookings had three others compete in the balance beam besides Erickson. Ronning came in 12th with a score of 9.2000. Lexi Norgaard finished in 28th (8.5000) and Addison Haggerty came in 34th (8.0500).

There were four other Bobcats who competed in the floor exercise. Ronning led the way, coming in 17th with a score of 9.2167. Halverson came in 25th (9.0000) and Petersen came in 27th (8.9333). Norgaard finished in 30th (8.8500).
