The Brookings basketball teams each lost to Sioux Falls Jefferson on Friday night.
The boys team lost 57-43 in Brookings and the girls fell 66-45 to the Cavaliers in Sioux Falls.
The Bobcat boys dropped to 0-16 and play at Pierre on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The girls fell to 9-7 and host Pierre on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Boys
Sioux Falls Jefferson 57, Brookings 43
The second quarter proved to be the difference on Friday night in the boys game.
The Cavaliers had a 13-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. They then outscored the Bobcats 19-9 in the second quarter and had a 32-20 lead at halftime. Each team scored 11 points in the third quarter. Sioux Falls Jefferson then had a 14-12 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Brookings shot 29.8% from the field and was 5-of-21 from three. Bergan Tetzlaff led the Bobcats with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Brodie McCarty had six points and seven rebounds.
SJ shot 40.7% from the field and was 4-of-18 from three. Kuek Kuek and Jase Unzen each had 12 points. Damaris Fields had 11 points.
Brookings dominated the glass with a 49-31 advantage in rebounds. The Bobcats had 21 turnovers and the Cavaliers had seven. Brookings was 4-of-7 at the free throw line and SFJ was 5-of-10.
Girls
Sioux Falls Jefferson 66, Brookings 45
SFJ used a dominating first half to earn the win on Friday night. The Cavaliers got off to a fast start as they led 22-11 at the end of the first quarter. They would then extend the lead 47-22 by halftime. The Bobcats outscored the Cavaliers 9-8 in the third quarter and had a 14-11 advantage in the fourth.
