Flandreau girls, ILP, ELB boys win over the weekend

The Flandreau girls and Iroquois/Lake Preston and Elkton-Lake Benton boys won basketball games over the weekend.

The Fliers beat Lakota Tech 45-42 on Saturday. The Sharks beat James Valley Christian 89-74 and the Elks beat Great Plains Lutheran 68-45. In other area action the ELB girls lost to GPL and the Flandreau boys fell to West Central.

Girls

Flandreau 45, Lakota Tech 42

The Fliers had to come from behind on Saturday. They led 8-7 at the end of the first quarter but then trailed 22-18 at halftime. Flandreau outscored Lakota Tech 19-6 in the third and led 37-28 heading into the fourth. The Fliers then held off the Tantaka in the final quarter.

Morgan Sheppard led the Fliers with 14 points, 15 rebounds and three assists. Sadie Iott had 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and four steals. Hannah Krull had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Great Plains Lutheran 51, Elkton-Lake Benton 36

The Panthers used a strong first half to take down the Lady Elks. GPL led 16-8 at the end of the first quarter and then had a 27-14 lead heading into halftime. Each team scored 10 points in the third quarter and then the Panthers had a 14-12 advantage in the fourth.

The Lady Elks were led by Andrea Renkly who had 12 points. Gella Jones had seven points and Payton Kuehl had six points.

Kathrine Prahl led the Panthers with 14 points. Madeline Prahl had 12 points and Jolie Lien and Esta Cameron each had seven points.

ELB dropped to 5-10 and hosts De Smet on Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

Boys

Iroquois/Lake Preston 89, James Valley Christian 74

ILP led 22-17 at the end of the first quarter and then took a 46-33 lead into halftime. Each team had a big third quarter as ILP led 72-60 heading into the fourth. The Sharks then outscored the Vikings 17-14 in the fourth.

Lucas Peskey had a big game for the Sharks with 32 points, seven assists and seven steals.Carter Arbeieter had 19 points and five rebounds. Peyton Hope had 14 points.

The Vikings were led by Jerrod Wallman who had 36 points. Huntley Steele had 15 points.

ILP is now 5-7 and hosts Wessington Springs on Tuesday 7:45 p.m.

Elkton-Lake Benton 68, Great Plains Lutheran 45

The Elks trailed 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. ELB then outscored GPL 16-8 in the second quarter and led 24-16 at halftime. The Elks extended the lead to 49-30 by the end of the third quarter and then outscored the Panthers 19-15 in the fourth.

Joseph Nibbe had 17 points to lead the Elks. Tanner Drietz had 12 points. Riley Nordmeyer and Tanner Stein each had eight points.

The Panthers were led by Micah Holien who had 16 points. Thaddeus Kratz, Brody Scharlemann and William Krenz each had six points.

ELB is now 11-3 and hosts De Smet on Thursday 6:30 p.m.

West Central 54, Flandreau 30

The Fliers were led by Paul Parsley who had 20 points but he didnt get a lot of help.

West Central was led by Will Kuhl who had 11 points and five rebounds. Kolte Garry had nine points. Connor Mebius had eight points, five assists and four steals. Luke Knight had eight points and eight rebounds.

Flandreau fell to 9-5 and hosts Dell Rapids on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.
