Bobcats host triangular with Sioux Falls Jefferson, Mitchell

BROOKINGS The Brookings wrestling teams hosted a triangular with Mitchell and Sioux Falls Jefferson on Thursday night.

The Bobcat boys split the triangular, beating Sioux Falls Jefferson and falling to Mitchell. The Brookings girls lost both duals despite winning four of the five matches that were played in the two duals.

Boys

Brookings 48, Sioux Falls Jefferson 29

The Bobcats won five of the 10 matches that were actually played.

Brookings Bode TeKrony led off with a win via forfeit at 106. Briggs Archer followed with another win for the Cats as he pinned Orlando Bermudez in 51 seconds at 113.

The Bobcats won the next two matches by forfeit as Micah Stern picked up a victory at 120 and Haiden Baxter won at 126. Brookings Jacob Milliron then won a 15-13 decision over Kaydin Sorenson at 132. Ty Delbridge followed with another forfeit win for the Bobcats at 138.

The Cavaliers won the next two matches. Aidan Wells pinned Jack Griggs in 59 seconds at 144. Graham Wilde followed with a pin of Cayden Westall in one minute at 150.

James Fitzpatrick got the Bobcats back in the win column at 157 as he pinned Derek Wiemann in 1:16 at 157. Ayden Dooley answered with a win for SFJ at 165 as he pinned Colten Walsh in 1:39 at 165. Brookings Gabriel Stern then pinned Noah Kuckovic in 1:05 at 175.

The Cavaliers won the next two matches. Anneyso Ahmed won an 18-3 technical fall over Blake Kannegieter at 190 and Cooper Dykstra pinned Zach Hagemann in 5:08 at 215. Dylan Reynolds closed the match out with a win for the Bobcats as he won an 8-4 decision over Noah Duran.

Mitchell 41, Brookings 31

The Bobcats won six of the 14 matches against the Kernels.

Briggs Archer kicked things off for the Bobcats in the 113-pound weight class and he pinned Kaysen Nightpipe in two minutes. Micah Stern then took the mat for Brookings at 120 and lost a 5-1 decision to Noah Bennet.

Haiden Baxter picked up a win for the Cats at 126 with a 15-0 technical fall over Dax Gukeisen. Brookings Ty Delbridge followed with a 16-7 major decision over Stratton VanOverschelde at 132.

The Kerenels won the next three matches. Tayven Red Day won a 16-6 major decision over Jacob Milliron at 138. Van Johnson then pinned Jack Griggs in 25 seconds at 144 and Samari Wright pinned Cayden Westall in 1:15 at 150.

James Fitzpatrick snapped the losing streak for the Cats as he won an 11-0 major decision over Trell Kaupp at 157. Mitchells Kaiden Allen then pinned Colten Walsh in 3:33 at 165.

Gabriel Stern won the next match for Brookings as he pinned Garret Dumas in 49 seconds at 175. Blake Kannegieter followed with another win for the Bobcats as he pinned Mason Fosness in 1:05 at 190.

Mitchell won the final three matches of the dual. Sean Foote pinned Zach Hagemann in four minutes at 215. Rocky Clark then won a 9-1 major decision over Dylan Reynolds at heavyweight and Blaze Sevigny pinned Bode TeKrony in 39 seconds at 106.

Girls

Mitchell 36, Brookings 17

The Bobcats won two of the three matches that were played.

Bailey TeKrony won a 16-0 technical fall for the Cats over Allyson Tilberg at 107. Kami Erickson picked up the other win for Brookings as she pinned Liliana Luque in 3:30 at 126.

Frankie Kranz had the win for Mitchell. She pinned Ramsie Hinricher in 2:28 at 120. Diana Borja, Danny Borja, Sonia Romero, Taylor DeJong and McKyla Linke won via forfeit for the Kernels. Kendis Sackreiter had the lone forfeit win for the Bobcats.

Sioux Falls Jefferson 30, Brookings 24

The Bobcats won both of the matches that were played. Kami Erickson pinned Yen Tran in 1:03 at 126. Kendis Sackreiter pinned Leah Neugebauer in 2:30 at 250.

Ramsie Hinricher and Bailey TeKrony each had forfeit victories for Brookings. Jude Miler, Jumah DeKuly, Saphera Reid, Turista Haagenstad and Macie Letsche all won via forfeit for the Cavaliers.
