The Sioux Valley and Deubrook Area girls continued their winning ways on Tuesday night. The Cossacks took down De Smet on the road and the Dolphins beat Dell Rapids St. Mary at home.
Sioux Valley 59, De Smet 32
DE SMET It was the fourth-straight win for the Cossacks.
Sioux Valley got off to a fast start as it led 20-5 at the end of the first quarter. The Cossacks then took a 31-15 lead into halftime. Sioux Valley outscored De Smet 12-8 in the third and 16-9 in the fourth.
The Cossacks shot 40% from the field and were 3-of-21 from three. Kailey Cradduck had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead Sioux Valley. Liberty Trygstad had 18 points. Keyra Kruse had nine points and seven rebounds. Talya Vincent had five points and five assists.
De Smet shot 24% from the field and was 3-of-18. Hazel Luethmers had 19 points to lead the Bulldogs.
The Cossacks had a 36-26 advantage in rebounding. Sioux Valley had 14 turnovers and De Smet had 24. The Cossacks were 8-of-11 at the free throw line and the Bulldogs were 5-of-7.
Sioux Valley is now 9-2 and plays at Beresford on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Deubrook Area 58, Dell Rapids St. Mary 45
WHITE A strong second and fourth quarters propelled the Dolphins to the win on Tuesday night.
Deubrook led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Dolphins then outscored the Cardinals 15-6 in the second and took a 28-18 lead into halftime. DRSM cut the lead to 40-35 at the end of the third quarter but was then outscored by Deubrook 18-13 in the final frame.
Mataya Gouws and Kylee Johnson each had 11 points to lead the Dolphins. Matte Bauman had 10 points. Peyton Trooien and Zoey Molengraaf each had nine points and Makenna Ekern had six points.
Madala Hanson had 19 points to lead the Cardinals. Maddyn LeBrun had 11 points and Jenna Miller had 10 points.
Deubrook is now 11-3 and hosts Flandreau on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
