Ranger girls top Aberdeen, Watertown

BROOKINGS The Brookings Rangers girls varsity team won a pair of games over the weekend at the Larson Ice Center. The Rangers topped Aberdeen on Friday night and then defeated Watertown on Sunday afternoon.

The Rangers are now 10-4 and will host Rushmore this Friday and Saturday. Puck drop for both of those games is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Friday

Brookings 5, Aberdeen 2

After playing to a 1-1 tie in the first period, the Ranger girls were able to pull away on Friday night, outscoring Aberdeen 4-1 in the final two periods.

Sawyer Tripplet got the Rangers on the board seven minutes into the game and it was an unassisted goal. Rachel Siefken then tied things up two minutes later and her goal was assisted by Allison Woehl.

Brookings scored two goals in the second period. Miyah Foerster scored a power play goal with 11:39 left in the period. That goal was assisted by Maya Edminson. Foerster then scored again with just under three minutes left in the period and she was assisted by Julissa Peterson.

Aberdeen pulled within one just under four minutes into the third period and it was Siefken who scored again. This time she was unassisted. Foerster then completed a hat trick with a goal with 6:21 left. She was assisted by Peterson again. Anna Rasmussen then put an exclamation point on the win with a goal with 5:23 to play. She was assisted by

Ava Kahle. Aberdeen outshot Brookings 30-22. Rorii Quam was in net for the Rangers and she had 20 saves.

Sunday

Brookings 5, Watertown 1

Brookings scored three goals in the first period and didnt look back on Sunday. Peterson got the scoring going for the Rangers with 11:37 left in the first period and she was assisted by Foerster. Kahle scored 57 seconds later and she was assisted by Rasmussen. Foerster then made it 3-0 with 1:40 left in the first period. She was assisted by Kinzey Grendler and Peterson.

Foerster scored the lone goal for the Rangers in the second period. It came with 7:09 left in the period and she was assisted by Shauna Pederson and Khloe Ziegeldorf. Gracelyn Webb got the Lakers on the scoreboard. It came with 52 seconds left in the game and she was assisted by Alyssa Mathews and Sloan Allard. Triplett then scored with 16 seconds left and she was assisted by Grace Devries.

Brookings outshot Watertown 41-16. Quam was in net again for the Rangers and made 15 saves.
