Flandreau victorious over McCook Central/Montrose

FLANDREAU The Flandreau basketball teams swept McCook Central/Montrose in a doubleheader on Friday night.

The Flier girls beat the Cougars 50-37 and the boys came away with a 52-42 victory. The girls improved to 9-3 and play at Deubrook Area on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. The boys are now 8-4 and play at Garretson on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Girls

Flandreau 50, McCook Central/Montrose 37

Flandreau led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Fliers then increased their lead to 20-13 by halftime. They would push the lead to 40-23 by the end of the third quarter. The Cougars outscored the Fliers 14-10 in the final quarter.

The Fliers were led by Sadie Iott, who had 18 points and four rebounds. Morgan Sheppard had 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Hannah Krull had seven points and seven boards.

Boys

Flandreau 52, McCook Central/Montrose 42

Each team scored just five points in the first quarter. Flandreau then outscored MCM 20-12 in the second quarter. The Fliers then led 38-29 at the end of the third quarter and were able to outscore the Cougars 14-13 in the final frame.

Micah Otto had 16 points to lead the Fliers. Luke Sheppard had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Parsley had 12 points, six rebounds and three steals.
