God will guide us through change

Everything in my life seems to be changing right now. Im (joyfully) in a new position as senior pastor at Brookings First United Methodist Church, and in the past six months Ive gotten married, moved, changed positions a couple of times and started home remodeling projects.

Ive never been one to shy away from change, though I am not always sure I thought through doing everything at once, either. At least these have all been good changes, even if not always easy.

All around our community, nation, and world are hard changes, too. People are suffering, weather continues to change in ways many communities arent equipped for, and many are afraid amidst other changes, too. There is much in our world that can make us weary or wonder if anything we can say or do might make a difference. Yet God paints another picture for us, inviting us to stay vigilant and do as the Lord requires of us, above all else: to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).

Some days, this feels easier to do than others. Yet always, it is necessary: and a gift. Fortunately, we dont have to do it alone, but instead we are reminded in Lamentations 3:22-23 that:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness

Great is Gods faithfulness: and so too, may we be faithful to Gods unceasing love, justice, and mercy this day, and all of the days yet to come.
