Global Game Jam coming to Dakota State University

MADISON Dakota States game design program is hosting a Global Game Jam site the weekend of Jan. 24-26.

Global Game Jam is an event designed to bring people together for 48 hours to create a game from start to finish. These can be video games, board games, or card games, as long as they relate to a central theme chosen annually.

Dakota State and The Beacom Institute of Technology host the event every January, said Erik Pederson, assistant professor of game design. Its been a huge success every year, bringing together students, faculty, alumni, industry professionals, and many others to share the experience of making games.

The goal of the event is to encourage and inspire creative thinking to develop small but innovative and experimental games, Pederson explained.

Approximately 60 students attended the event last year, and many have already registered for this years event.

DSUs GGJ site is not just for those with a connection to the university, its open to anyone from the public as long as they are 18 years old or older.
