PIERRE On Tuesday, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at the state Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Jan. 4 in honor of former state legislator Arnold “Arne” M. Brown.
Brown represented Brookings County in the state House from 1993 to 1996 and in the state Senate from 1997 to 2004, including as president pro tempore of the Senate from 2001 to 2004.
A funeral service for Arne will take place on Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2030 Third St., in Brookings.
