SIOUX FALLS The Brookings boys wrestling team competed in the Floyd Farrand Invitational on Tuesday. The Bobcats came in ninth place with 89.5 points.
Micah Stern was the top finisher for the Bobcats as he came in second place in the 120-pound weight class. He won a 19-3 technical fall over Sioux Falls Jeffersons Shin Loreno in his first round match. Stern then pinned Vermillions Matt Roob in 3:40 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals Stern pinned Sioux Falls Lincolns Isaac Kauffman in 1:17. He then lost a 19-3 technical fall to Brandon Valleys Beckett Rehorst in the championship match.
Gabriel Stern came in third place in the 190-pound weight class. He pinned Sioux Falls Jeffersons Josiah Foolbull in 1:32 in his first match. In the quarterfinals he pinned Brandon Valleys Cody Lindekugel in 37 seconds. He would then lose an 11-5 decision to Sioux Falls Washingtons Lane Knutson in the semifinals. In the consolation semifinals Stern won an 11-2 major decision against Parkstons Kash Neugebauer in the consolation semifinals and pinned Sioux Falls Jeffersons Anneyso Ahmed in 48 seconds in the third-place match.
Jacob Milliron came in fourth place in the 132-pound weight class. He pinned Canistotas Koda Popkes in his first match in 3:23. In the quarterfinals Milliron pinned Lennoxs Kedren Fergen in 1:37. Milliron then lost a 20-2 technical fall to Sioux Falls Lincolns Hudson Cisar in the semifinals. In the consolation semifinals he won an 11-3 major decision over Harrisburgs Andre Sengos before losing a 10-1 major decision to Watertowns Kutler Swenson in the third-place match.
Dylan Reynolds came in fifth place in the heavyweight division. In his first match Reynolds pinned Vermillions Jacob Emerson in 14 seconds. Micah Hach then pinned Reynolds in 54 seconds in the quarterfinals. Reynolds then won back-to-back matches in the consolation side of the bracket as he pinned Lennoxs Leif Karlson in 3:26 and pinned Parkstons Breckin Culbert in 2:12. In the consolation semifinals Reynolds was pinned by Dell Rapids Charlie Becker in 4:35 but he then pinned OGormans Daniel Vazquez in 3:26 in the fifth-place match.
Zach Hagemann came in sixth place in the 215-pound division. He lost his first match as he was pinned by Harrisburgs Brody Sonnenschein in 5:23. He then received a bye before pinning his next two opponents. He pinned Sioux Falls Jeffersons Cooper Dykstra in 3:48 and then pinned Dakota Valleys Cooper Bernard in 2:27. In the consolation semifinals Hagemann lost a 4-2 decision to Sioux Falls Washingtons Myles Yitagesu and then lost a 5-3 decision to Watertowns Ethan Wientjes in the fifth-place match.
Blake Kannegieter came in eighth place in the 190-pound weight class. Kannegieter pinned Sioux Falls Jeffersons in 1:06 in his first match before losing a 17-2 technical fall to Wagners Gannon Knebel in the quarterfinals. Kannegieter pinned Lennoxs Nate Haar in 1:38 in his first consolation match but then lost a 7-2 decision to Parkstons Kash Neugebuaer. In the seventh-place match Hagemann was pinned by Brandon Valleys Cocdy Lindekugel in 2:05.
Jack Griggs went 1-2 in his three matches in the 144-pound weight class. Griggs lost a 22-5 technical fall to OGormans Slaton Jones in his first match and then won a 10-4 decision over Parkstons Krey Culbert in his second match. He was then eliminated as he was pinned by Beresford/Alcester-Hudsons Kanin Klentz in 1:36.
