SIOUX FALLS The Brookings Rangers girls varsity team fell to the Sioux Falls Flyers in overtime on Sunday afternoon.
Ragyn Peska netted the game-winner for the Flyers with 1:07 left in the period. She was set up by Halle Watson and Aniston Murray.
Emma Honner got the scoring going in the game with 6:15 left in the first period and that gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Anna Rasmussen then tied things up one minute and 21 seconds later. Ava Kahle and Julissa Peterson had assists on Rasmussens goal.
Peterson then put the Rangers in front in the second period as she scored with 13:20 to play in the period. She was set up by Rassmussen. However, Honner would tie things up with a short-handed goal with 1:33 left in the third period and that sent the game to overtime.
Sioux Falls had 59 shots and Brookings had 18. Rori Quam had 56 saves in the loss for the Rangers.
Brookings dropped to 6-4 and plays Aberdeen at home on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. The Rangers will also play the Cougars at 1 p.m. on Jan. 11.
