PIERRE Travel South Dakota has to released six additional episodes of the popular The Travel South Dakota Stories podcast series.
Building on the success of the initial three episodes released in 2023, the new installments feature more inspiring stories and local perspectives, offering listeners a deeper dive into the states wonders. The podcast series delves into the true heart of the state with stories of people and places from the land of infinite variety.
The six new episodes are:
The Land of Giants Discover towering prehistoric wonders from South Dakota, including 67-million-year-old T. rex teeth and mammoths, who were once South Dakotas wooliest residents;
The Greatest Show in the West Learn about the vibrant rodeo culture and heritage that continues to thrive in South Dakota. This episode takes listeners through the arena at the Black Hills Stock Show and connects with a father-son rider duo that love being part of the ranch rodeo;
Little Town on the Prairie Relive the charm and history of Laura Ingalls Wilders frontier town of De Smet and Ingalls Homestead. Listen in on a spelling bee from inside the historic 1889 Little Prairie School and learn about treasures held in the archive room at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society Museum;
Marching Back in Time Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the annual Fort Sisseton Historical Festival, where the sights and sounds of 19th-century frontier military life come to life. Experience history as reenactors and events vividly transport you to the era of the forts storied past;
Where Bad is Good Explore the rugged beauty and allure of the Badlands National Park. Podcast hosts explore the discovery of ancient fossils and wildlife while describing the scenes from the land that makes them feel like theyre in a Western movie; and
South Dakota on a Plate Savor the flavors and culinary culture that make South Dakota a foodies delight. Hosts take listeners to a festival celebrating chislic, the state nosh, and an award-winning restaurant in an unexpected place.
These new episodes bring even more local voices, rural attractions, and fascinating stories to life, said James Hagen, secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism. Listeners can immerse themselves in our rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable experiences leaving them inspired to visit South Dakota and create their own stories.
Produced in collaboration with Armchair Productions, the podcast features host Brian Thacker, who explores South Dakota with a fresh perspective, interviewing cowboys, artists, and locals who share their unique experiences.
