SDSUs Signature Wool product sales benefit student scholarships

BROOKINGS Holiday shoppers can choose gifts this year that will please any Jackrabbit fan, while supporting scholarships at South Dakota State University.

SDSU Signature Wool blankets and scarves are available at the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum gift store, or through the stores website for online sales and delivery.

Net proceeds from the sales go to a scholarship fund that benefits students in both the Department of Animal Science and the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design.

Available are queen size bed blankets, two styles of stadium blankets and two styles of neck scarves. Designed by students in SDSUs Fashion Merchandising department, the products are 100 percent South Dakota grown wool and have been processed to be cold water machine washable.

The SDSU Signature Wool Project was originally developed in 2013 by a joint effort of the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association, the SDSU College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences (now the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science), and the SDSU College of Education and Human Sciences, with assistance from Center of the Nation Wool, Inc. and Faribault Woolen Mills Inc., which manufactured the products.

The museum is at 977 11th St. on the SDSU campus. For online sales, visit www.AgMuseumStore.com.
