Bobcat girls split, boys swept at Pierre Triangular

PIERRE The Brookings wrestling teams competed in a triangular with Pierre and Tea on Thursday and the girls split with the two teams, while the boys came away with two losses.

The girls beat Tea 36-6 and then fell 69-6 to Pierre. The boys lost to Pierre 59-21 and then took a 54-30 loss to Tea. Each team will host a dual against Watertown on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.

Girls

Brookings 36, Tea Area 6

Three of Brookings six wins against the Titans came via forfeit. Lilly Toft had the quick victory for the Bobcats as she pinned Bailey Miller in 18 seconds in the 120-pound weight class. Ramsie Hinricher then pinned Lillia Matthews in 2:51 at 126 and Kami Krickson pinned Lainey Haines in 54 seconds at 132.

Pierre 69, Brookings 6

The Bobcats lone win against the Lady Governors was at 120 where Toft had another quick victory. She pinned Jersey Lewis in 54 seconds to finish 2-0 on the day.

Boys

Pierre 59, Brookings 21

Brookings won four matches in this dual. Jacob Milliron got the first win for the Bobcats as he beat Jermiah Wurtz with a 15-0 technical fall in the 138-pound weight class. Mason Mathis pinned Aiden Van Balen in 3:14 at 165 and Gabriel Stern beat Sam Larson with a 13-2 major decision at 190. Dylan Reynolds got the final victory for the Bobcats as he pinned Devin Binger in three minutes at 285.

Tea Area 54, Brookings 30

The Bobcats won five matches in their second dual of the night. Mathis pinned Trevor Cordell in 3:03 at 165 and Blake Kannegieter pinned Thiik Lual in 1:35 at 190.

Stern then pinned Jaeden Waltner in 1:13 at 215. The next win for the Cats was a forfeit at 106. The final win of the night for Brookings was at 138 where Milliron pinned Sam Bullis in 1:52.
