BROOKINGS South Dakota State University Extension will host a virtual Annies Project series for women in agriculture.
Annies Project is designed to empower women in agriculture to be successful through education, networks and resources. All are welcome to attend.
Classes meet once a week online via Zoom beginning Jan. 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. They continue at the same time on Jan. 13, Jan. 20 and Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 and Feb. 10. Along with live sessions, educational resources will be available online.
Registration is required and is $50 per person. To register by Jan. 3, visit extension.sdstate.edu/events and search Annie.
Over a six-week period, participants will learn how to develop financial records, learn key communication skills, ask questions about retirement and estate planning and expand marketing knowledge while having fun in a supportive learning environment.
A virtual Annies Project allows women to connect, learn and grow alongside fellow women in agriculture from the comforts of their home during the cold winter months, said Robin Salverson, SDSU Extension cow/calf field specialist.
Salverson said the program is especially helpful for women who have questions on farm/ranch management, insurance and estate plans, caring for family members on the operation or marketing crops/livestock.
Through programs like Annies Project, the SDSU Extension Women in Ag team creates a supportive community focused on educating, engaging and empowering women contributing to agriculture.
