MONROE Authorities have identified the 39-year-old man who died Nov. 26 in a head-on collision 10 miles northeast of Monroe.
Preliminary crash information indicates Michael Lee Zimmer of Monroe, the driver of a 2012 Volkswagen CC Sport, was traveling east on state Highway 42 near the intersection of 454th Avenue when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with an approaching tanker truck.
Zimmer died at the scene from his injuries. The driver of the tanker truck, Daniel J. Bannwarth, 52, of Mitchell, was not injured.
