SIOUX FALLS The 2024 SDHSAA State Volleyball Tournament concluded over the weekend with Harrisburg, Dell Rapids and Chester winning state titles at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Saturday night.
Class AA
Harrisburg 3, Sioux Falls Washington 1
The Tigers completed an undefeated season, defeating the Warriors in four sets. The Tigers won the first two sets 25-14 and 25-17 before Washington edged out Harrisburg 26-24 in the third set. But the Tigers rebounded for a 25-13 win in the fourth set to win the title.
Gabi Zachariasen led the way with 28 kills for Harrisburg. Jasalyn Samuels had 51 assists and five aces for the Tigers. Maggie Meister had a team-high 21 digs and Kya Keegan and Bergen Stiff had three blocks each.
Kaelyn Snoozy led Washington with 19 kills. Emily Akkerman had 33 assists and one of Washingtons four aces. Maylee Roth, Cate Legel and Snoozy also recorded one ace each.
Taryn Kirsch had 18 digs. Dana Harpe, Chloe Peterson, Legel and Snoozy had one block each.
The Tigers finished with a 31-0 record while Washington finished the year with a 22-5 record.
Class A
Dell Rapids 3, Dakota Valley 1
The Quarriers raced out to a 2-0 advantage, winning the first set 25-21 and the second set 25-23. Dakota Valley extended the match with a 25-16 win in the third set before Dell Rapids finished it with a 25-11 win in the fourth set.
Madelynn Henry had 24 kills for the Quarriers. Sophi Randall led Dell Rapids with 40 assists. Alaina Wolff had three aces and a team-high 19 digs. Lauryn Kloth had seven total blocks.
Claire Munch led Dakota Valley with 24 kills. Madelyn Munch had 34 assists. Madelyn Munch and Coryn Kimbell had four aces each. Kimbell also had 15 digs. Cameryn Sommervold, Madelyn Munch and Aubree Worden each had one block.
Dell Rapids finished the season with a 32-3 record while Dakota Valley finished 31-6.
Class B
Chester 3, Warner 2
The Monarchs jumped ahead early with a 25-18 win in the first set before Chester evened the match with a 25-23 win in the second set. Warner earned a 25-23 win in the third set to regain their advantage in the match before Chester won the fourth set 25-15 and the fifth set 15-10 to win the Class B title.
Jacy Wolf led the Flyers with 20 kills and had a team-high 25 assists. Lily Van Hal also had 25 assists while leading Chester with three aces and 25 digs. Emile Bleeker led the way defensively with six total blocks.
Kyleigh Schopp led Warner with 11 kills. Libby Scepaniak had 15 assists. Jaycee Jung had four assists and Jordyn Jensen had 27 digs. Schopp also finished with 10 total blocks.
Chester finished the year with a 32-2 record while Warner finished at 33-5.
