SIOUX CENTER, Iowa The Brookings Rangers made easy work of their first game of the season, routing the Sioux Center Storm 15-0 on Sunday morning.
The Rangers scored seven times in the first period before adding five goals in the second period and three goals in the third period. They also out-shot the Storm 66-4.
Luke Honkomp led the way with a five-point game, scoring a goal and tallying four assists.
Tre Christopherson had a hat trick and an assist for a four-point game while Caleb Johnson (four assists), Talon Hyde (goal, three assists) and Jay Harris (two goals, two assists) also recorded four-point games.
Riley Linstad had a goal and an assist.
Maxten Jensen, Cody Jacobsson Parker Nielsen and Cooper Deatherage each had a goal and an assist.
Carson Kludt, Jackson Heller and Waylon Carroll each had a goal. Mason Diers, Cade Zweber and Jason Ready each had an assist.
Matthew Bothe stopped all four shots to earn the shutout in net for the Rangers.
After a win to open the season, the Rangers will hold their home opener against Sioux Falls West on Friday before hosting the Aberdeen Cougars on Saturday at First Bank & Trust Arena at the Larson Ice Center.
