GARRETSON A Jasper, Minnesota, man who died in a collision on Nov. 14 three miles north of Garretson has been identified by authorities.
Maureen Ann Bell, 71, of Jasper, the driver of a 2020 Buick Encore was traveling northbound on state Highway 11. With her was a passenger, 81-year-old Robert Stephen Bell, also of Jasper.
At the same time, Jose Gabriel Hidalgo Gomez, 33, of Baltic and the driver of a 2015 Kia Sorento, was traveling eastbound on 250th Street and failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 11 and collided with the oncoming Buick. Dense fog was a contributing factor in the crash.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Robert Stephen Bell sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
TheSouth Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.All information released so far is only preliminary.
