BROOKINGS The Brookings Swimming Club hosted its annual fall meet as the 2024 Fall Frenzy took place at the swimming pool at Brookings High School on Saturday and Sunday.
The event saw several swimmers shine as a total of 31 athletes finished in the top three in at least one event.
Girls
Quinn Humphrey competed in the age 9-10 division and finished first in four different events. Humphrey had times of 33.84 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, 40.76 seconds in the 50-yard breaststroke, 42.17 seconds in the 50-yard butterfly and 1:31.83 in the 100-yard breaststroke in her first-place finishes and had room for two second-place finishes in the 100-yard individual medley (1:25.68) and 50-yard backstroke (39.65 seconds).
Jane Meland also earned four first-place finishes in the ages 9-10 division. Meland finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:26.38), 500-yard freestyle (7:38.65), the 100-yard individual medley (1:24.60), the 50-yard backstroke (38.54 seconds), the 100-yard butterfly (1:41.16) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:45.31). Meland also finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 41.19 seconds.
Kalla Foerster earned four first-place finishes in the age 13-14 division. Foerster had a time of 59.08 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, a time of 2:24.74 in the 200-yard backstroke, a time of 2:46.56 in the 200-yard breaststroke and a time of 1:06.97 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Sofia Gonzalez had two first-place finishes in the age 15 & over division with times of 2:46.51 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 11:52.36 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Gonzalez also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.40.
Kjersten Johnson had a pair of first-place finishes in the age 11-12 division. Johnson had times of 1:16.55 in the 100-yard individual medley and 1:20.80 in the 100-yard breaststroke to earn her victories. Johnson also had two second-place finishes with times of 30.15 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 35.27 seconds in the 50-yard breaststroke. She also finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.95.
Olivia Hove had four top-three finishes in the 15 & over division including a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:42.98. Hove finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:54.79 and in third place in the 100-yard individual medley (1:41.66) and 200-yard individual medley (2:51.66).
Addelyn Rausch earned four second-place finishes in the age 9-10 division. Rausch finished with a time of 35.34 in the 50-yard freestyle, a time of 1:39.51 in the 100-yard backstroke, a time of 46.96 seconds in the 50-yard butterfly and a time of 3:20.78 in the 200-yard freestyle. She also finished third in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 36.91 seconds.
McKinley Schwab finished in second place in four different events in the age 13-14 division. She posted times of 1:00.59 in the 100-yard freestyle, 2:34.76 in the 200-yard backstroke, 1:09.57 in the 200-yard butterfly and 1:23.21 in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.08 seconds.
Kendra Pikul finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle ith a time of 14:04.93 and third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:44.38 while competing in the age 13-14 division.
Kyra Bowne finished in second place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:47.09) and third place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.12) and 200-yard freestyle (2:29.48) in the 15 & over division.
Kendall Schmit finished second in four events while competing in the age 13-14 division. She posted times of 2:57.28 in the 200-yard breaststroke, 26.69 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, 2:08.22 in the 200-yard freestyle and 1:10.03 in the 100-yard backstroke. Schmit also finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.97.
Ava Humphrey finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.63 and second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:46.56. She also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle at 29.19 seconds while competing in the 15 & over division.
Ella Morehouse finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke for the age 9-10 division with a time of 1:56.05.
Shayla Vilhauer finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:54.01) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:13.49) and 100-yard butterfly (1:20.31) while competing in the age 13-14 division.
Brooklyn Rausch finished third in the 100-yard individual medley for the age 11-12 division with a time of 1:27.77.
Harper Drawdy finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:30.27 in the age 9-10 division.
Scarlett Januszewski finished third in the age 13-14 divisions 100-yard breaststroke race with a time of 1:32.11.
Makena Johnson finished third in the 200-yard individual medley in the age 13-14 division with a time of 3:11.94.
Boys
Jensen Weber finished first place in seven events while competing in the age 11-12 division. Weber finished with times of 2:32.14 in the 200-yard individual medley, 28.29 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, 1:13.58 in the 100-yard backstroke, 33.42 seconds in the 50-yard butterfly, 34.94 seconds in the 50-yard backstroke, 1:28.34 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 1:18.91 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Weber also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.36.
Emmett Morehouse picked up a first-place finish in the age 11-12 division, posting a time of 41.04 seconds in the 50-yard breaststroke. Morehouse finished in second place in five different events including the 50-yard freestyle (28.76 seconds), the 50-yard breaststroke (1:15.72), the 100-yard individual medley (1:17.88), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:35.29) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:25.54).
Morehouse finished third in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 38.03 seconds and the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 36.88 seconds.
Brenden Kuehl finished in first place in the age 9-10 division for a time of 8:08.80 in the 500-yard freestyle. Kuehl also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:23.14) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:48.08) while finishing third in the 50-yard backstroke (43.94 seconds).
Wesley Hanson-McComb finished first in the 100-yard freestyle race for the age 9-10 division with a time of 1:18.91. Hanson-McComb also finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke (1:43.85), the 100-yard individual medley (1:25.68) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:43.85). Hanson-McComb finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 34.42.
Otto Nelson competed in the age 9-10 division. He finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 3:27.63 and third in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:37.22.
Wyatt deBlonk competed in the age 11-12 division, finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:39.42) and 50-yard breaststroke (41.13 seconds). deBlonk also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.01 seconds.
Adam Oorlog finished second in the 8U 100-yard backstroke race at 1:59.30.
AJ Marker finished third in two events in the 8U division, posting times of 1:28.19 in the 50-yard butterfly and 30.62 seconds in the 25-yard breaststroke.
Noah Humphrey finished third in three different events in the 15 & over division with times of 2:50.95 in the 200-yard breaststroke, 25.72 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 2:08.96 in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.96).
Hudson Rausch finished in third place in the 8U divisions 5-yard backstroke with a time of 59.42.
Jorgen Johnson finished third in the 15 & over divisions 500-yard freestyle race with a time of 6:07.22.
