Erin Nielsen and Amanda Peterson join Brookings Health team

BROOKINGS Two new directors, Erin Nielsen, CDM, and Amanda Peterson, RN, have joined Brookings Health Systems team.

Nielsen was recently brought on as nutrition and food services director. In this role, Nielsen plans and directs dietary operations for Brookings Health System and manages all dietary staff. She will also oversee the preparation, storage, delivery and service of food to all patients, residents and staff patrons as well as ensure proper sanitation and food safety measures are followed. She will also be responsible for ordering necessary food, supplies and equipment.

Nielsen is a certified dietary manager and has nine years of experience in dietary management for healthcare facilities. She most recently served as the director of food and nutrition for the Avantara Milbank nursing home and rehabilitation facility. She holds a bachelors degree in nutrition from Kaplan University.

Peterson recently joined as the inpatient care nursing director. In this role, Peterson coordinates and manages all aspects of care for inpatient, ICU and swing bed patients at Brookings Hospital. She will work closely with physicians, nursing team members and ancillary departments within the health system to promote optimal patient outcomes. In addition, she will assume supervisory responsibilities for the inpatient care staff.

Peterson became a registered nurse in 2020 and has experience in adult and pediatric ICU, which included roles as a clinical care leader and preceptor. She most recently served as the RN program manager for newborn screening at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. She holds a bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Sioux Falls and a bachelors degree in health sciences from the University of South Dakota.
