Brookings School District Foundation awards grants to educators

BROOKINGS The Brookings School District Foundation has announced the launch of the Bobcat Innovation Grant program, designed to provide classroom teachers in the Brookings School District with opportunities to enhance student learning through innovative materials and experiences.

On Nov. 1, the foundation awarded its first-ever grants, marking a significant step toward fostering additional dynamic and engaging learning opportunities for students.

At the Brookings School District Foundation, we understand the crucial role teachers play in inspiring and educating students. The Bobcat Innovation Grant program aims to empower educators by offering financial support for creative initiatives that introduce new materials, methods, technologies, and other resources to enrich educational experiences. This program encourages teachers to explore progressive strategies that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and overall student success, according to a news release from the BSDF.

We are excited to launch this program and support our dedicated teachers, said Kyleigh Cramer, executive director of the BSDF. Their creativity and understanding of student needs are vital to improving education in our district, and we are committed to providing the resources they need to bring their innovative ideas to life.

The first round of grants has been awarded to the following educators, with each showing a commitment to enhancing student learning through unique and impactful projects:

  • Alysha Hamann: Life Skills Learning Lab
  • Jennifer Lacher-Starace and Stephanie Ballard: Educators Rising
  • Aaron Toronto: Bobcat Filmmakers Club
  • Kelsey Marker and Sue Carlson: Honoring Our Heroes
  • Kami Bartels, Kelly Trenhaile and Lori Mohs: Strider Bike Racks
  • Sarah Stoltenberg: LEGO League
