SPRINGFIELD, Mass. South Dakota State junior Brooklyn Meyer was one of 20 players named to the watch list for the 2024 Lisa Leslie Award on Friday.
The Lisa Leslie Award, now in its eighth year, recognizes the top centers in Division I womens college basketball. It is named after the three-time All-American, 1994 National Player of the Year and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer.
Meyer, a junior, is the reigning Summit League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year after a breakout sophomore season in 2023-24. She averaged 16.8 points on the season and shot .588 from the floor. Her 7.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per contest in 2023-24 also led the Jackrabbits. Meyer scored at least 20 points nine times last season, including a career-high 29 twice – vs. South Carolina State and North Dakota State.
The winner of the 2025 Leslie Award will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the other four members of the Mens and Womens Starting Five.
Previous winners of the Lisa Leslie Award are Cameron Brink, Stanford (2024), Aliyah Boston, South Carolina (2020-23), Megan Gustafson, Iowa (2019), and Aja Wilson, South Carolina (2018).
