Summit League recognizes seven Jackrabbits

SIOUX FALLS The Summit League announced its award winners and Womens Soccer All-League Teams on Thursday, recognizing the conferences individual standouts for their performances during the Summit League schedule. The All-Summit League Teams were voted on by the conferences respective coaching staffs.

Highlighting the South Dakota State program as First Team All-Summit League selections were Kaycee Manding and Laney Murdzek.

Manding claimed her third consecutive season of First Team honors from The Summit League. The senior defender helped the Jackrabbits pace the conference in goals-against average (0.63) from the back line. Manding led South Dakota State in assists with three and was second on the team in total minutes played with 700. She played all 90 minutes in seven of the eight Summit League contests.

Murdzek joined Manding on the First Team for the second time in her career, while she picked up her third all-conference accolades. Murdzek finished with five points during Summit League action behind a pair of goals and an assist. The SDSU midfielder produced a .545 shots on goal percentage while playing over 60 minutes per match.

Sophomore forward Katelyn Beulke, a year after making The Summit Leagues All-Newcomer Team, was SDSUs lone choice on The All-Summit League Second Team. Beulke was the Jackrabbits leader in points (7) and goals (3) over the course of eight conference matches. She scored two eventual game-winning goals in victories over Kansas City and Oral Roberts.

SDSU had two players earn honorable mention to The All-Summit League Team. Senior Avery Murdzek and junior Lauren Eckerle were both recognized.

Murdzek, a two-time all-conference performer, started in all eight matches for the Jackrabbits. She had the second highest shot output on the team with 17. The SDSU midfielder registered an assist during Summit League play and competed for over 68 minutes per match.

Eckerle, a 2022 All-Newcomer Team choice, registered two assists during conference action. The defender was a key contributor to SDSUs league-leading 0.63 goals-against average. Eckerle totaled two assists over the course of league play while she appeared in 73.5 minutes per contest.

The Jackrabbits had a trio be chosen for The Summit League All-Newcomer Team. Earning spots on the squad were Adrianna Agbayani, Mia Bosch and Solala Nasu.

Agbayani tied for second on the team in points during conference action with five points. She scored two goals, with one serving as a game winner at St. Thomas, while also dishing out an assist. The forward also recorded a .833 shots on goal percentage.

Bosch made starts in all but one match in league play. The SDSU midfielder recorded a team-high 22 shots and totaled a .455 shots on goal percentage. She played over 54 minutes per contest and registered an assist against Summit League opposition.

Nasu appeared in all eight conference games for the Jacks. She played nearly 25 minutes per contest from her midfield position and totaled four shots.

South Dakota State returns to action when it participates in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Summit League Womens Soccer Championship. The Jackrabbits are set to host South Dakota at 6 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Fishback Soccer Park. The winner advances to the semifinal round to face Denver in Fargo, N.D., on Nov. 7.
