Name released in deadly motorcycle crash near Spearfish

LAWRENCE COUNTY A motorcyclist who died Sunday afternoon a single-vehicle crash 6 miles south of Spearfish has been identified by authorities.

Preliminary crash information indicates Jess H. D. Pinkerton of Belle Fourche, the 46-year-old driver of a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 14A near mile marker 17 when he left the roadway and went over the embankment into the creek. Pinkerton became separated from his motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries from the crash.

TheSouth Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
