Linda Louise Milianta, (nee Brand) aged 84, passed away on Oct. 24, 2024, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Born on Sept. 2, 1940, Linda devoted much of her life to the care and comfort of her family.
Lindas career was marked by her role as a dedicated homemaker, alongside positions at The Rock Island Railroad in Blue Island, IL; the A&P Store in Blue Island, IL; Verrips Grocery Store in Pella, IA; 3M Company in Knoxville, IA; and Kens Grocery Store in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Her work ethic and nurturing nature were evident both at home and in her professional endeavors.
A graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL, Linda was known for her generosity and deep care for animals, frequently ensuring that birds and stray cats in her neighborhood were well-fed and cared for. Her home was a welcoming space for all creatures, two-legged or four-legged.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Joseph Milianta; children: Suzanne (Milianta) Murtha and husband Andy Murtha, Dianne Milianta and husband Dale Peterson, and Joseph H. Milianta; grandchildren: Amanda (Murtha) and Chris McNeil, Michael Murtha, Steven and Tanya Murtha, Elizabeth Angove-Milianta, Rachelle (Angove-Milianta) Starling and Larry Starling, Dakota Milianta-Peterson, and DaMara Milianta-Peterson; and great-grandchildren: Berkely, Brighton, Bronx McNeil, Annika and Elise Milianta, and Kaylee and Kinsely Starling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Carol Brand, and her sister, Susan Morris.
Lindas memory will be cherished through the stories shared by her family and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
Her life was a testament to the power of caring and commitment to ones family.
